DEMONS OF RELIGION

The demons of religion will influence a person to do works of the flesh and stay in bondage, rather than walk in the freedom we have in the Spirit. (2 Corinthians 3:17)

Religion is the works of man, in their strength, looking to self, to attain self-righteousness, to attain salvation, to please God. It is all about what they can do and how they appear before others.

We are to have a relationship with the Father, being reconciled back to Him through His Son, Lord Jesus. A free gift from God. Not a life of works to attain His grace and receive His love and blessings. We cannot attain salvation through works, it is by grace through faith. (Ephesians 2:8-10)

There is rest for those who cease from their own works and enter into the finished work of the cross! Allowing Holy Spirit, who is within all those who believe, to do the good work in us! Hallelujah! (Ephesians 2:10) Sanctifying us with the truth! (John 17:17 Romans 15:16) He leads and guides us in truth and in righteousness. He does it as we yield, submit and surrender daily, living a consecrated life unto our Lord. A life laid down. (Galatians 2:20 Romans 8:14)

MANIFESTATIONS OF A RELIGIOUS DEMON

TRYING TO EARN GOD'S LOVE AND SALVATION.
It is not by works we receive the Father's love and salvation. This demon will make a person feel shame and guilt if they do not 'do' enough to earn God's love and will work to earn salvation.

Ephesians 2:8-10
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

HAVE A FORM OF GODLINESS.
Have an appearance of Godliness, holy and righteous but within their hearts are not being sanctified by submitting and surrendering to the ministrations of Holy Spirit. The religious demon would have them in pride in how they 'look' and 'appear' to others. 'I am more holy than you.'

FOCUSED ON THE DOING.
The religious demon would have a person feel pride due to their position in the church, the tasks they are doing, being seen by man doing good, more focused on the doing than spending time with God in a relationship.

JUDGING.
Judging by the outward appearance. God judges us by our heart but man judges by outward appearances. God looks at our heart, not our appearance. Religious demons will judge how a person wears their hair, make-up, tattoos, clothes worn, how they speak and behave, car they drive, workplace or social status. Will judge if they are deemed acceptable or not according to their social standard.1 Samuel 16:7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

HYPOCRISY.
Luke 11:1 “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.” Will speak and behave one way in front of people to look good but within their hearts, are harbouring offence, pride, arrogance, resentment, bitterness etc.. Smile but their hearts are against you. Will tell others how to live but do not live it themselves.

LEGALISTIC.
Will debate scripture and argue to prove it's point or show what it knows. Not receiving something by revelation of the Spirit if it is not written in the bible. “Where is it in the bible?”

The religion demon will have a person feel they are never good enough, always concentrating on doing something to gain God's love and acceptance, it's all about works. Yet feel they know better than others, can do things better, a know-it-all, can do it by themselves, caught up in the works rather then a relationship with God and with others. Are in denial of their spiritual condition before God, feeling holier-than – thou before others, have thoughts of superiority, looking down on others, giving an appearance of Godliness but denying the power. Feeling of guilt and shame if not doing enough. Will help others to satisfy their need to 'do' something to earn God's attention and love instead of doing for others from a heart of love by leading of Holy Spirit. Will do righteous 'act's to earn salvation, being good enough by their standards. Look good on outside but within is a white-washed tomb. Will exchange the truth for a lie (Deception. Romans 1:18-25) Self-imposed bondage to how they believe they should live, according to the works of the flesh. Trying to attain God's acceptance and He be pleased with them by their 'hard' work. Are not being led by the Spirit where there is freedom and life!

Luke 18:9
And He also told this parable to some people who trusted in themselves that they were righteous and viewed others with contempt: “Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood and was praying this to himself: ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other people: swindlers, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I pay tithes of all that I get.’ But the tax collector, standing some distance away, was even unwilling to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, the sinner!’ I tell you, this man went to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

The Eight Woes of Jesus. Jesus opposed the religious, the pharisees and the scribes!  (The biblical meaning of the number eight is 'New Beginning'. Holy Spirit said, “Life in the Spirit not dead works of the flesh!”)

This is a long but very thorough self-deliverance prayer, demons will be leaving you. They may leave as a cough, burp, sigh, yawn, sneeze, vomit, buildup of saliva (spit it out), tears in the eyes (wipe them away), feel a weight lift from you, feel something has left, some feel nothing at all when demons leave. Speak in the authority our Lord Jesus has given you over the realms of darkness. (Luke 10:19)
