LEARN HOW THE 'ROOT OF BITTERNESS' TRIES TO TAKE ROOT IN THE HEART

When Lord Jesus knocked on the door to our heart we made an agreement with Him that caused that door to be opened. What was the agreement? We recognized we were a sinner in need of a Savior and confessed our heart belief that Jesus Christ had died on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins and that God raised Him from the grave three days later. (Romans 10:9-10) The Spirit of Jesus then entered through the door of our heart (Place of belief) into our spirit unto salvation (Ephesians 1:13) as we received Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

We were then reunited with our Father who sits upon the throne in heaven! Who had predestined us to be His child! (Ephesians 1:4-5) Who foreknew us! (Romans 8:29) Hallelujah! It is only through Jesus Christ can we be saved by grace through faith and gain access to the Father and have eternal life. (John 14:6) Due to this door being opened to our heart (The place of belief) and receiving the Spirit of God into our spirit, we are connected to the realms of heaven, to every spiritual blessing! (Ephesians 1:3)

We are told to guard our hearts for good reason. From the heart flows the issues of life.

Proverbs 4:20-27
My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh. Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life. Put away from you a deceitful mouth, And put perverse lips far from you. Let your eyes look straight ahead, And your eyelids look right before you. Ponder the path of your feet, And let all your ways be established. Do not turn to the right or the left; Remove your foot from evil.

This scripture teaches us to guard the gates of our eyes, ears and mouth. To keep our heart with all diligence. To walk wisely, being sure of our steps.

We are told to trust the LORD with all our heart.

Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; We are told to love the LORD our God with all our heart.

Luke 10:27
So He answered and said, “ ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’ ”

God looks at our heart.

1 Samuel 16:7
But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”

God tests our heart.

1 Chronicles 29:17
I know also, my God, that You test the heart and have pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of my heart I have willingly offered all these things; and now with joy I have seen Your people, who are present here to offer willingly to You.

Our hearts should be pure.

Matthew 5:8
Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.

Our heart condition is important to God. From the heart flows the issues of life. What we believe in our hearts, will be made manifest in our lives. Our agreement with Jesus when He knocked upon the door to our heart, opened a door that connected us to heaven. We believed in our hearts unto righteousness/justification.

We know during deliverance that demons must obey the belief of our heart, they know our belief within our heart is powerful.

THE DIFFERENT DOORS TO OUR HEART

There are different doors to our heart that demons will try to gain entry through (Sin lies at the door. Genesis 4:7) but the demons need our agreement for the door to be opened. They have no power unless we come into agreement with them. They will try to use the door of offense, the root of bitterness, rejection, abandonment, fear, anxiety, worry, murder, hatred, lust etc... They need our agreement to gain access. This is why we need be careful what we look at with our eyes, what we listen to and what we speak. (We can feel these emotions and not come into agreement with a demon. We give how we feel to our Lord in prayer, walking by faith, not by our feelings, thus resisting the enemy)

We need to be aware of what we are entertaining and mulling over in our hearts. (Iniquity is contemplating sin in our hearts) To only meditate upon the things that are good. (Philippians 4:8) To do good and not evil. Having our mind, our affection (heart) stayed upon the things above and not on the things of the earth (Colossians 3:2) which is still under the sway of the wicked one, satan, the prince of the air. (1 John 5:19) We choose to align ourselves with the scriptures, with the will of God for our lives. To know His heart and live it through the leading and guidance of Holy Spirit. Keeping all doors shut to the realms of darkness! We deny them access!

We can experience fear but not come into agreement with it. We can experience anxiety, worry, rejection etc.. and not come into agreement, instead in humility, choose to lay it down at the feet of Lord Jesus, praying with a heart of thanksgiving unto Him, trusting our Lord. We can experience offense but choose to repent and renounce it straight away, thus not coming into agreement with it. Demons need our agreement to try and gain entry to our heart. We choose to not receive their lies and only come into agreement with God's will for our lives, which is the Word of God, the scriptures and letters found in the bible. The truth. Words of life and blessing! God's promises!

What do we do if we made an agreement with a demon and it has entered due to the belief of our heart? We need to break the agreement. We break the agreement by repenting and renouncing and declare that agreement broken. The demon can then be cast out, it cannot stay. If we have submitted the situation to God, when we resist the enemy, he must flee! (James 4:7)

THE ROOT OF BITTERNESS

The root of bitterness comes when a seed of hurt has been received and planted within someone's heart. A seed of hurt can come through rejection, perceived rejection, betrayal, abandonment, being let down, disappointment, treated unfairly, verbal, physical, sexual abuse, humiliation, not being recognized, not approved for promotion etc.. And if not addressed, will begin to grow into a root of bitterness.

The root of bitterness then grows and produces fruit not of God in that person's life.

Genesis 4:1-12 (Read)

Genesis 4:6-7
So the LORD said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance (Reflection of a person's mood or attitude is seen) fallen? If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies (demon) at the door (Door of your heart). And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.”

Cain was bitter towards God, feeling He had treated him unfairly and was bitter towards his brother, Abel, whom God chose over him, which caused his countenance to fall (Discouragement/depression) and anger within his heart. Bitterness had come in and taken root in his heart which produced the fruits of resentment, unforgiveness, hatred, anger, rage, retaliation and ended in the murder of his brother! Then when God questioned Cain about what he had done, he showed no remorse for his actions. He was still consumed by evil because the sin that was lying at the door had ruled over him, instead of him ruling over it! Cain allowed his flesh to be ruled by the demonic that was lying at the door of his heart, causing him to sin!

WHAT IS THE ROOT OF BITTERNESS?

The Root of Bitterness (Bitterness) is a ruling demon. It has other demons that work under it.

These demons cause the fruits not of God to be seen in a person's life, just as they were seen in Cain's life. Resentment. Unforgiveness. Hatred. Anger. Rage (Physical anger). Retaliation. Violence. Murder. The bitterness demon can manifest as suppressed anger. The person may experience sudden bursts of anger and wrath. They may feel compelled or justified to slander, grumble, complain, back-bite or gossip about or against the one whom they perceived has hurt them or did them wrong. Thus it causes trouble and defiles many! (Hebrews 12:15)

Ephesians 4:30-32 (Read)

Ephesians 4:31
Let all bitterness, wrath (rage), anger, clamor (harsh words) and evil speaking (slander) be put away from you, with all malice (spitefulness).

The demon of Bitterness causes other fruits to be seen in a person's life that are not of God. These are demons. Jealousy. Envy. Self-seeking. (James 3:14) Contempt. (Disrespect) Back-biting. Fault-finding. Complaining. Grumbling. Cursing (Romans 3:14) Hypocrisy.

To avoid a demon of Bitterness from entering our heart and taking root, we need to not come into agreement with it, we choose to not receive it, laying down all hurt, including perceived hurt we may have felt because of someone or a situation, even from God Himself if we feel He did not do what we felt He should have done when we needed Him, at the feet of Jesus in prayer, submitting it to Him. Forgiving the person. Forgiving God. Forgiving ourselves too. Jesus can then heal our heart. He will deal with the person, not us. (Romans 12:17-21)

We choose to walk in love, to be kind-hearted toward one another, forgiving one another. (Ephesians 4:31-32) Amen! This can only happen if we choose to submit all to Jesus, allowing His Spirit who is within us to minister to our heart and enable us to walk in love, to choose to do what is right and not do evil. To forgive, just as forgiveness was extended to us by Jesus. (Colossians 3:13) To love others as Jesus loves them. (John 13:34) To bless and not curse. To overcome evil with good!

This prayer is to repent, renounce and break agreements with the root of bitterness on the behalf of your parents and your ancestors, it is a self-deliverance prayer, demons will be leaving you. Speak this prayer in the authority Jesus gave you over the realms of darkness. (Luke 10:19) They can  leave as a yawn, cough, burp, sigh, vomit, tears in the eyes, excess saliva (spit it out), feel a heaviness lift, just know something left, some feel nothing at all when demons leave.

NOTE: It is optional to add your spouse, children or grandchildren in this prayer, the curses will be broken off from them if you do.

NOTE: For those who had been fostered, adopted or had someone who had parental care over you for a length of time, had step parents or mother and father in laws, add what is appropriate to you in the brackets.
